Micro Learnings

This Micro Learning section will help you to deepen your knowledge and understanding of our ex racehorses. The Micro learnings give insights into our training ideas, concepts and thoughts as we work with with THEM as horses, how they are, and not what we 'want' them to be.

Some of our MicroLearnings are from videos, some are from our online Zoom sessioms. When you purchase one of the videos (each 15-20mins long), you will be sent a downloadable PDF. Once you recive the PDF PLEASE CLICK ON THE IMAGE ON THE PDF TO OBTAIN VIDEO. This gives you UNLIMITED LIFETIME access to the videos.

There are currently 5 MicroLearnings available: "Stiff Neck, Sore Back',  "Cantering without Concern", "From Giraffe to Great" (an interactive MicroLearning), 'A Day at the Races' and the "Bridging the Gap' series of video based learnings/teachings.

Each Microlearning has a selection of videos, which mean you can choose whichever suits you and your ex-racehorse best. There are also 'bundle' options which gives you access to ALL of the videos in the series at a discounted rate.

You can also purchase Training Videos which give you more exercise-specific ideas to help you and your ex racehorse. Either select TRAINING VIDEOS from the dropdown menu (Education and Online Training) or CLICK HERE to be directed to the page.

If you have any questions, or would like further help with your ex racehorse, please fill out the contact form on the right of this page.

    • Do you find that your Racehorses neck is just ‘up’ and ‘in the way’?
    • Do you feel like your ex racehorse is ‘off the bridle’ yet behind the leg?
    • Do you feel like your ex racehorse whizzes off on the lunge and becomes easily distracted when ridden?
    • Do you sometimes feel out of control?
    • Do you feel like you’re not sure of what the first steps to take to get your ex racehorse understanding ‘the contact?’
    • Would you like to find a better way of communicating with your ex racehorse without potential explosions, or behaviour of a horse that seems to want to ‘run’ everywhere?

Throughout these two sessions we will be looking at ways to:

    • Help reduce the possibility of tension
    • Help increase focus
    • Help develop balance and suppleness
    • Assess from the floor, develop confidence and posture, and then apply to your ridden work
    • Help develop ‘rideability’ and a better relationship with your ex racehorse
    • Help develop the half halt.

You can purchase the sessions either individually, or as a pair (at a discounted price).

You will be given exercises in PDF format following on from the sessions, along with video where applicable.

A 2-part series which is fantatsic for those looking for more understanding and help with cantering your ex racehorse. It highlights common concerns, and problems, and answers training questions. This series covers: the canter transitions, both 'to' canter and from 'canter to trot'; getting the correct canter lead; dealing with the 'fast' canter/'racehorse mode'; how to start developing straightness and ridebaility in the canter; dealing with 'common problems' and how to feel safe whilst doing so. These sessions use 'examples'/case studies of our ex racehorses and how we develop and train them accordingly. We call it "6 Versions of the Racehorse':

    • The 'One-sided Horse'
    • The 'Running Horse'
    • The 'Backing-off Horse'
    • The 'Disunited Horse'
    • The 'Forward Somersault Horse
    • The 'French Bulldog Horse'

For each of these you will recieve the recordng of the session, plus exercises (PDF format) which are talked through in the sessions, and appropriate training videos. After purchase, you will receive the exercises and downloadable PDF/link via the email address you have supplied.

These Micro Learnings look in greater detail at 5 key areas, that will deepen your understanding of how  to work with your your ex-racehorse from the very beginning of retraining, through to the early stages of ridden work.

Each session is 30-60 minutes long and has a Q&A at the end. With each session you will recieve AT LEAST one training video and one exercsie to complement what we have been discussing throughout the session.

These are brilliant for ALL levels of riding/training/stages of retraining and help you better understand your ex racehorse and can help with any training problems, concerns or queries.

This series focuses on bridging the gap between the Racing World and the Retraining World. This series covers 3 topics:

    Rider Position and Seat

As the rider/trainer you will gain a better understanding of how our racehorses are used to being worked, and communicated with by their working riders/jockeys. This knowledge and understanding are essential to the training and development if of our ex rachehorses into riding horses.

    A Day At The Races

Ever wondered what you racehorses life looks like on the day of a race? What is the process? How are they tacked up? What do they experience as ‘an outing?’

How can we, as retainers, then take parts of their first career to aid their second career? This 1 hour long webinar recording will give an insight into ‘a day at the races’ combined with how we develop our former stars of the track into successful riding horses, regardless of what sphere they go into.
